Bird in Hand has introduced two new wine ranges, marking the winery’s first foray into Tasmania’s renowned wine-growing region.
The Tasmanian Series and Tasmanian Reserve Series showcase the distinctive cool-climate expressions of the island state, with the debut release featuring a lighter Nouveau Pinot Noir and a crisp Riesling from the Tasmanian Series, alongside a full-bodied Reserve Series Pinot Noir.
Andrew Nugent, Co-founder of Bird in Hand, shared his excitement about the new release wines.
“This marks an exciting chapter, bringing our team’s craftsmanship to the outstanding grape growing conditions, winemaking excellence and artistic passion of Tasmania, while preserving our dedication to producing world-class premium wines from the magnificent Adelaide Hills.”
Senior Winemaker Sarah Burvill also spoke about the project’s focus on Tasmania’s unique qualities.
“These wines reflect the rugged wilderness of Tasmania and its ability to produce wines of exceptional purity and elegance. With the inaugural releases, we’ve focused on highlighting the clarity of the fruit and the distinct character of the region, creating wines that capture the unique flavours and complexity of Tasmania’s terroir.”
The new wine series also coincides with Bird in Hand’s announcement to lead the hospitality offerings at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens in Hobart from 2025. This includes an on-site restaurant inspired by the flagship LVN Restaurant in Woodside, Adelaide Hills, set to open in late 2025. Bird in Hand will also oversee weddings and events across the gardens’ stunning grounds, delivering its signature approach to hospitality.
The limited-release wines will be initially offered to members of Bird in Hand’s Flight Club, with all three wines available at select venues within the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens.
Additionally, the Riesling and Reserve Series Pinot Noir will be served by the glass at the LVN Restaurant in Adelaide Hills.
