Australia’s number one premium gin, Bombay Sapphire, has announced that it is now also the world’s favourite premium gin.
The Bacardi distributed spirit, which was first launched in 1987, commands a hefty 31.7 percent share by value of the premium gin market, making it the number one premium gin by value on a global scale.
Bombay Sapphire’s senior brand manager, Fernando Navarro, said that the growth figure, as reported by the International Wine and Spirit Record (IWSR) for the 12 months to the end of December 2008, represented an exceptional accolade for Bombay Sapphire.
“Having been Australia’s number one premium gin for some time, the announcement that we are the world’s number one premium gin brand is testament to Bombay Sapphire’s distinctive flavour, mixability and superior quality,” he said.
The IWSR also reported that over the last five years Bombay Sapphire has achieved a consistently strong growth rate that edged it ahead of all other major international premium gins.
Bombay Sapphire is marketed in a flat-sided, sapphire-coloured bottle that bears a likeness of Queen Victoria on the label.
