Popular Brisbane bar, The Lark, will launch a new liquor appreciation society this Wednesday (Mar 25).
Aimed at consumers who want to learn more about fine spirits and wine, members will be invited to exclusive events and tastings at the Paddington venue.
The first event will focus on whisky and will involve whisky tastings, including some rare Japanese whiskies just brought back from Japan by The Lark owner and operator Perry Scott.
“I’m sure scotch and wine will feature quite heavily [in the appreciation society],” he said.
While the society is aimed at consumers, members of the trade are encouraged to come along as well.
“I have discovered over the last two years at the Lark people want to know as much about products as bartenders do… [T]hese events will give people the chance to taste various products and obtain their own experience of the product, not just [learn from] some tasting notes they have read,” said Scott.
The Lark was the winner of ‘Best New Venue’ at the 2007 Australian Liquor Industry Awards (ALIA) and a finalist in 2008 for ‘Best Bar’.
