The Standard Wine Co. has also been selected as the distributor of Italian wines for gourmet meal delivery service, ChefPrep.
Both appointments represent significant coups for The Standard Wine Co., which is still in its first year of operation.
The Standard Wine Co. was established in the middle of 2021 by Piero Fonseca, a former sommelier at both The Star and Lumi Dining. Fonseca’s expertise is something that the Standard Wine Co. has leant on heavily in its early trading, with the company commenting that it is ‘led by a dynamic team of wine experts who are breaking the mould in delivering exceptional on-demand customer service for high-end European wines.’
This approach has clearly paid dividends, with the company achieving an exclusive distribution deal with Maison Lallier, one of foremost Champagne houses outside of the traditional ‘Grande Marques’. Lallier was Campari’s first entrance into Champagne, when the company purchased an 80 per cent majority stake in 2020, and forms part of Campari’s high-end ‘RARE Division’.
Fonseca commented on the partnership, “We are absolutely delighted to be the exclusive distributor for Lallier which will see the champagne on wine lists in the best fine dining restaurants across the East Coast of Australia.”
“Lallier is a prestigious champagne sold across Europe in Michelin Star restaurants, so it fits perfectly within our portfolio and will provide our customers with an exclusive opportunity to access these esteemed Cuvees.”
Meanwhile, as part of its partnership with ChefPrep, The Standard Wine Co will assist Sydney chefs by handpicking Italian wines to pair with their meals.
The Standard Wine Co. CEO Bailey Myers believes that this partnership represents a significant step for the company, moving into the residences of consumers themselves.
“Our partnership with ChefPrep is a proud moment for the team as we evolve our offering from on-premise to in homes.”
“We will be working closely with their incredibly talented chefs to perfectly pair Italian wines from regions including Tuscany and Veneto and deliver boutique wines on the doorsteps of food and wine lovers across Sydney,” Myers added.
Joshua Abulafia, ChefPrep Co-Founder and CEO, was also on-hand to comment on the new partnership.
“Piero and his team have made it super easy and super simple for our customers to get access to high-quality wines. It’s also fantastic that we are able to enjoy such a unique and special range of wine products.”
“We are ecstatic about having The Standard Wine Co. as a partner.”
For Myers, the two partnerships reflect the progress that The Standard Wine Co. has made in its first year: “We have seen tremendous month-on-month growth in our customer base which validates the demand in the market for our high quality, exclusive products and the desire for authentic and personalised customer service.”
