The Goodman Group announced on Tuesday (Nov 9) it will start work on a $60 million distribution centre for Coca-Cola Amatil Limited (CCA) in Hazelmere, Western Australia.

The 41,378 sqm office and warehouse facility will accommodate CCA’s warehouse and distribution operations for the Perth and greater Western Australia region.

The warehouse has been purpose built and will house all of CCA's products, including soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, fruit juices and grinder coffee. It is the first time all of CCA's products will be housed under one roof.

The purpose-built facility includes a 40,000 sqm warehouse with 1,378 sqm office and ancillary space, and 20,053 sqm of expansion land for future warehouse requirements. CCA has committed to an initial 15 year lease term.

The new CCA development is expected to be completed in September 2011 and will be one of the largest industrial facilities in the Perth area.

CCA’s general manager, planning and strategy, Peter Steel, said: “We are pleased to be working with Goodman again after the successful delivery of our Eastern Creek distribution centre. This new facility will be pivotal to the success of our Western Australian operations and we are confident in Goodman’s ability to deliver another quality result.”

A number of environmental initiatives have been incorporated into the design of the CCA facility, including rain water tanks with the water to be used for amenities and truck washing, and low-wattage lighting for energy efficiency.

The facility will also enable CCA to streamline its truck movements, reducing fuel emissions.
