Coopers Brewer has released the 22nd edition of its seasonal Vintage Ale, with this year’s version characterised by its hop recipe.
The 2022 Vintage features American hop El Dorado and German hop Huell Melon, which offer ‘tropical, stone fruit notes’ and ‘fruit and berry’ flavours respectively. A base of Coopers Pale Malt has also been used in the beer.
Dr Tim Cooper, Coopers Managing Director and Chief Brewer, said the 2022 rendition maintained the range’s stellar reputation.
“Coopers is this year celebrating our 160th anniversary of brewing and the 2022 Vintage is an outstanding ale befit of the occasion,” Dr Cooper said.
“The Coopers Vintage release is much anticipated across Australia every year,” Dr Cooper continued.
“This year’s release is a rich, balanced and full-bodied ale with floral and spice characters.”
The Vintage Ale series began in 1998, and the annual release is now a landmark of Australia’s beer calendar.
Coopers Vintage Ale is known for its ability to be ‘cellared’, much like a vintage wine, with the beer thought to improve with age.
“2022 Vintage Ale is perfect to drink now, or if stored under cellar conditions, it will become more complex over time as the flavours evolve and develop,” Dr Cooper said.
“As with every Coopers Vintage release, only a limited number of kegs and cartons are available so drinkers should be prompt to avoid disappointment.”
The 2022 Vintage Ale undergoes in-bottle secondary fermentation, like all Coopers ales, and is presented with an ABV of 7.5 per cent.
Coopers 2022 Vintage Ale will be available in six-packs and cartons of 355ml bottles from liquor retailers from July 27. Kegs of the beer will also be on tap at certain venues.
