Corryton Burge has welcomed a trio of sparkling wines to its portfolio, continuing the same passion for quality wine demonstrated by the six-generation winemaking family.

The new sparkling range comprises the NV Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay, RRP $28, NV Sparkling Red, RRP $28, and 2019 Martha Mae Tasmanian Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay, RRP $45.

The new range joins Corryton Burge’s growing portfolio, which includes wines from the Barossa Valley, Eden Valley, Adelaide Hills, and Tasmania’s Derwent River.

The sparkling release has been long awaited by siblings and sixth-generation Barossans Trent and Amelia Burge, the current force behind Corryton Burge.

Trent said that the new releases are well suited to celebratory occasions, especially as we enter the festive season.

“Sparkling wine has always been synonymous with celebration in the Burge family. Whether it’s a wedding, birth, graduation, or anniversary – a bottle of sparkling is the perfect pairing to capture the essence of that moment. We hope people reach for Corryton Burge sparkling to mark any chapter in their lives,” he said.

The siblings are joined by their parents Grant and Helen, with Trent spearheading the winemaking team and Amelia across brand and marketing.

“The Barossa Valley and Burge family are two integral pieces of the South Australian wine story and we’re so proud to be showcasing them to a new generation of wine lovers through Corryton Burge. We’re only just getting started sharing a new side of our family’s winemaking legacy and we hope Corryton Burge is the epitome of the joy and passion we feel for wine,” Amelia said.

The NV Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay begins with a cool fermentation in stainless steel, followed by an extended maturation on lees, resulting in a sparkling with a fine, persistent bead and a pale gold colour. Tasting notes describe aromas of fresh strawberries and shortbread, with a palate of delicate brioche and crisp, natural acidity. It is part of the Kith Collection, which honours the winery’s extended family of industry peers who have supported Corryton Burge’s growth.

The 2019 Martha Mae Tasmanian Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay is named after the Burge family’s great-grandmother, and part of the Kin Collection, which pays homage to the six generations of Burge family winemaking. Crafted from an exemplary Tasmanian vintage, tasting notes describe aromas of wild florals and fresh beach spray with a palate of white peach and strawberries followed by toasted brioche and marzipan. It is ready to be opened now or cellared for another five to 10 years.

Also part of the Kith Collection, the NV Sparkling Red is crafted from Barossa-grown cabernet sauvignon, shiraz, and grenache. Aged in small, old oak barrels, the wine then undergoes a secondary fermentation in bottle and maturation on yeast lees. Tasting notes describe aromas of dark berries with baking spices, toasted oak, and hints of sweet vanilla, and a palate of dark berries with dark chocolate and espresso.
