Carlton & United Breweries (CUB) has confirmed that Peter Filipovic will take over from Jan Craps as the company’s CEO, from 1 January 2019.
Filipovic has worked for CUB for 21 years having started as a graduate and holding a number of senior roles in finance and sales before being appointed the Australian Business Unit President in 2016. Filipovic will succeed the current CEO, Jan Craps, who will become CUB’s Executive Chairman.
“I am looking forward to continuing CUB’s momentum of growth and innovation and working closely with Jan as we take CUB to the next level,” Filipovic said.
“As always, our customers and consumers will continue to come first. We’ve been a successful company since 1832 by ensuring our focus is on delivering quality and value to our customers and consumers throughout Australia.”
The move comes after AB InBev announced a geographic restructure which will see Craps move to Shanghai in January to become Zone President for the Asia Pacific Zone.
During Craps’ time as CEO of CUB the brewery has made some substantial investments, including purchasing craft brewers 4 Pines and Pirate Life, and starting work on upgrading its Cascade Brewery which is becoming its craft brewing hub.
“I am proud that CUB has firmly established itself as Australia’s leading brewer, with a range of innovations and sustainability achievements that have set us up well for the future,” Craps said.
“It has been an honour to lead CUB, and its passionate workforce, at a time of real change in the Australian beer market and I look forward to continuing to serve CUB in my new capacity as Executive Chairman.”
