Jose Cuervo recently ran a customer incentive to win a trip to Mexico, and the seven lucky winners have just returned to Sydney after their seven day trip to the heart of tequila.

Below is a brief account of the adventure by Cassie Yendall of the Bay Hotel in Mornington, Victoria.

”We flew into Puerto Vallarta on Mexico’s Pacific Coast and the first day was such an eye opener! Very hot, amazing views and the others on the trip were so much fun!

Our hotel, The Westin, was probably one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at and the staff were amazing and so friendly.

We went to the lighthouse in the Marina of Puerto Vallarta it was amazing, seeing the town from that view at night was incredible!

Wednesday night we met most of the others from all over the world (Cuervo brought in about 60 people from all over), more margaritas and tastings of other tequila’s that Cuervo has to offer.

The next day we had a trip to “Las Calletas” on a boat with the Cuervo world tourers. The water was clear; the food was amazing and the atmosphere incredible!

The dance-offs on the boat between countries was a lot of fun – everyone had an amazing time and bonded at the pool after!!

The following day, the Aussie crew: Sam (Diageo), Brett and Jimmy (Café Pacifico, Sydney), Jess & Pat (Mustang Bar, Perth), Elke (Beach Hotel, Byron), KerryAnne (Surfair, Sunshine Coast) and myself (Bay Hotel Mornington, VIC) went into town and mixed with the locals to watch the soccer.

It was great being able to be amongst the local Mexican’s for such an exciting game, then we met the others from the world tour at the lobby bar for cocktails, followed by dinner at a restaurant on the beach just off the town square of Puerto Vallarta.

Clockwise from back left: Elke van Handall (Beach Hotel Byron), Brett Harris (Café Pacifico), Cassie Yendall (Bay Hotel Mornington), Sam Reid (Diageo), Patrick Murphy (Mustang Bar Perth), Jessica Wohlers (Mustang Bar Perth), James Mclay (Café Pacifico) and KerryAnne Vallmuur (Surfair, Sunshine Coast).

The setting was incredible, the food and drinks amazing and of course the Cuervo tequila was flowing!

Some of the world group went to a night club where we could finally dance away the night.

The next day we boarded buses to Guadalajara, it was hot and everyone was very tired, the stops on the way were a bit of a culture shock, but it was great to see how the other half live!

We went out for dinner at a local restaurant in Guadalajara and the venue was amazing, old world style.

The tour to the Jose Cuervo distillery the next day was long, but great, with so many agave plants along the way.

The Cuervo distillery was very educational & the tastings gave me more perspective on the range.

Dinner that night was Fiesta Mexican, lots of traditional food and margaritas with cultural dancing from the ages as well as the mariachi band playing some new stuff!  What a way to finish the trip!

Thank you to Sam, Josh and the rest of the Diageo team for making it a trip to remember and thanks to my fellow trip winners for making the experience amazing, definitely will not forget it in a hurry."
