The unique terroir and microclimates of the Rutherglen region have poured their influence into creating some of Australia’s finest Muscats for over 150 years.

Now, a new release from De Bortoli is looking to shepherd in a new era for Muscat and drive a Rutherglen renaissance.

The new Muscat Aperitif from De Bortoli is described as a lighter, more contemporary take on the iconic wine, with approachability and versatility that unites tradition and innovation.

Marc Scalzo, Chief Winemaker of De Bortoli Rutherglen Estate, said: “At De Bortoli, we wanted to create something that redefines the way people see Muscat.

“By blending fruit at different stages of ripeness, we’ve crafted a wine that’s vibrant and fresh, but still carries the depth and character that Rutherglen Muscat is known for. It balances honeyed sweetness with delicate hints of peach, rose water, and orange blossom, offering a profile that is both complex yet refined, and quirky enough to add personality to any mixed drink or cocktail.”

With the new wine, comes a modern twist on serving Muscat by combining the Muscat Aperitif with Australian Prosecco for an elegant drink, with vibrant flavours, that unite the ingredients.

Tasting notes for the wine describe the nose as “a floral bomb, think rosewater but spicier with hints of anise and fresh ginger”. Adding: “The bright fresh Muscat takes your taste buds on a journey, from delicate Turkish delight through quince, cruising home to a refreshingly bitter finish.”

The new Muscat Aperitif is available now through your local De Bortoli representative.
