Australia’s oldest-operating distillery Beenleigh Rum has announced the addition of a restaurant to its distillery site in South East Queensland on the banks of the Albert River.
The Distillery Restaurant, which comprises a full-service 80-seat venue, recently opened its doors within the original stone building, from which the boutique distillery still operates with the original copper pot that has been used since its opening in 1884.
Chris Illman, Head of Marketing and Hospitality at Beenleigh, spoke about the opening of the restaurant, which marks a new milestone for Beenleigh.
“We are thrilled to introduce The Distillery Restaurant as an extension of the Beenleigh Rum Distillery experience, and believe it will quickly become a favourite with both locals and travellers.
“The menu itself has taken classic comfort foods and elevated them with high quality ingredients, new flavour profiles, unexpected twists, and of course a healthy dose of Beenleigh Rum where possible. The end result is a delicious and satisfying dining experience that suits both the palate and the soul.”
The Distillery Restaurant is described as “combining rustic charm with modern sophistication”, and drinks-wise, showcases Beenleigh’s award-winning rum in a mix of seasonal rum-based cocktails.
With a focus on elevated pub-style cuisine and quintessential Australian flavours, the menu includes smaller share plates such as spicy corn ribs and sticky pork belly bites, and larger hero plates such as signature beef ribs, porterhouse steak and the Beenleigh burger. Dining experiences can be finished with a selection of Beenleigh rum-infused desserts.
Also on offer are premium rum tastings, masterclasses and interactive distillery tours that combine Beenleigh’s blending and distilling traditions with forward-thinking food and drinks.
The Distillery Restaurant is now open for lunch Wednesday to Sunday from 11am – 3pm, and serving dinner on Friday’s from 5pm – 9pm.
