Marrickville’s Ester Spirits is celebrating a successful night at the 2025 Australian Gin Awards, claiming Best Old Gin, Best Matured Gin and the overall Best in Show.
The overall Best in Show went to the Ester Old Tom Gin, marking the first time that and Old Tom-style gin has taken out the awards’ top prize.
Felix Clark, Ester’s Co-Founder and Head Distiller, “What an honour to be judged amongst the best gins in the country. To be seen in this light by our industry and peers adds credence to the level of enthusiasm and passion we bring to our products.
“It is heartening to see the calibre of juice being made by our contemporaries and seeing the level of Australian distilling always lifting to new heights.”
The Ester Barrel Aged Gin #1 was named Best Matured Gin, as the awards keep coming for the Ester Distillery, after the Ester Strong Gin won Best in Show in its debut year and World’s Best Navy Strength Gin in 2021.
The Australian Gin Awards are hosted by the Australian Gin Distillery Association and aim to showcase the country’s top distillers and their craft.
Mikey Enright, Australian Gin Awards Chair said: “The Old Tom style of gin is always a tough category to judge, but this one was exceptional within the entire gin category.
“This gin has an elegant nose; the palate is packed with natural sweetness from a balanced array of botanicals. The finish is warm and everlasting and it’s a truly remarkable gin.”

- Little Blessings Brewing – Contemporary (SA)
- Overproof –Prohibition Liquor (SA)
- Strait Brands – Traditional Gin Liqueurs (TAS)
- Kendor Distillery – Flavoured (QLD)
A total of 238 gold, silver or bronze medals and certificates were awarded for this year’s Gin Awards.
