Evans and Tate's new winemaker Jodie Opie
In a career spanning two decades Opie has largely focused her attention on the Margaret River region, where she has held a number of winemaking roles, most recently as chief winemaker for Aravina Estate. Opie has also lectured at Margaret River TAFE, exported her own wine to the UK and says that she has been inspired by some of the region’s local industry leaders.
Speaking about her new role, Opie said: “I’m thrilled to be joining a company with the history of McWilliam’s. The McWilliams name gives extra pedigree to the Evans & Tate brand which itself has a long-established reputation. Plus, I’m delighted to be joining a talented team of winemakers and hope to contribute to the wonderful wines being made by Matt and the team."
Opie will be joining the Evans and Tate winemaking team, led by senior winemaker Matthew Byrne and speaking about the appointment, McWilliam’s Family Winemakers said: “Jodie’s wealth of experience, coupled with her endearing passion for making wine in Margaret River, will be an asset to McWilliams Family Winemakers and we look forward to her contributing to Evans & Tate’s continuing success.”
