Whisky Hall of Fame inductee, Bill Lark has told TheShout that the Tasmanian whisky boom should continue, with some exciting times and releases ahead.
Speaking shortly after he was confirmed as the first person from the Southern Hemisphere to be inducted into the Whisky Hall of Fame, Lark said that his and other Tasmanian distillers were hoping for some very special releases to be coming soon.
Lark told TheShout: "I think we are in for a real treat from Tasmanian Whiskies over the next couple of years.
"Whilst passion and quality are paramount we are starting to come across some very special releases. For instance at Lark we also make our own rum, matured in our own whisky barrels and when we release the rum, we then finish some of our very best whisky back in these barrels to produce a world first rum finish in a barrel of rum produced from the same distillery.
"I also happen to know a number of distilleries have access to some special rare Sherry casks and we should see more and more special release Sherry cask matured single malt whiskies coming out of Tassie shortly."
Sullivans Cove recently announced that its French Oak whisky is available once again, while the Lark Distillery was named the Best Australian Distiller.
More information on the exciting products coming out of Tasmania will be available in the next issue of National Liquor News.
