The crew from Grasshopper have taken on a new challenge with the opening of Boston, a breakfast and brunch restaurant located in the lobby of the 48 storey Gateway building in Circular Quay.

Catering largely for the corporate crowd, the venue includes an outdoor bar serving great coffees made with Boston’s specially roasted beans, as well as lighter style beers, artisan wines and an accessible range of classic mixed drinks.

"Boston is growing slowly and coffee sales [are] going well," said Grasshopper co-owner Martin O’Sullivan.

“The main idea behind Boston is to have a venue that serves all day breakfast with a kitchen that is open all day from 7:30am onward."

Some of the highlights on the menu include the mega Boston Breakfast, Egg & Seeds (a mix of super grains and sunflower seeds topped with poached eggs) and American Pancakes served with maple syrup glazed bacon and banana.

“We will of course serve lunches with our hero dish of rump steak, hand cut chips, garlic butter and red wine jus with the addition of either prawns or snails.

“These are combined with breakfast cocktails and beverages. The mock/cocktail list has been created to allow for a non-alcoholic and an alcoholic version of six cocktails,” said O’Sullivan.

These cocktails include the Salted Caramel Espresso, the Iced Passionfruit Tea and the Boston’s Mary, made with fresh horseradish, spicy tomato chutney, a trio of peppers and celery salt.

The venue has capacity for up to 300 people and a second bar will be added on soon, while an upstairs mezzanine level has been earmarked as a function and tasting room.

"For the Grasshopper group it’s about diversity. We now have a restaurant cocktail bar, a café breakfast restaurant with a liquor licence and we are currently looking for somewhere to do a supper venue," said O'Sullivan
