Australia is set to host over 20 Greek winemakers in a series of trade tastings, dinners and masterclasses taking place around the country at the end of June.
For the first time on Australian shores, a convoy of Greek winemakers, educators and vintners will host a series of events in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.
The wine tour has only previously been held in North America and New Wines of Greece president Yannis Voyatzis said: "This visit was the first time such a large group of Greek winemakers and representatives had visited Australia together."
He added: "This visit to Australia is about educating Australian trade about our wines, and showcasing the best we have to offer."
The Greek winemakers hope to educate Australian traders on over 90 different wines produced throughout the Greece and its surrounding islands, combining their classics with modern twists featuring the nation's native ingredients.
Yannis Voyatzis stated: "Even though we have thousands of years of wine production experience, the Greek wine industry is still evolving and the wineries attending will be showcasing a selection of their best wines, with a focus on the country's indigenous varietals."
The unique wines include some indigenous grapes such as Assyrtiko, cultivated on 3,500 year old vineyards situated on the volcanic island of Santorini.
