Innovative small-batch distiller from Geelong, Haiver Spirits has moved into the RTD category with the launch of Haiver Hard Tea in two flavours – Summer Peach and Tropical.
Haiver is known for its small-batch gins and vodkas and the Hard Tea launch comes after as founder and chemical engineer–turned-distiller Matthew Anastassiou moved his boutique distillery from Western Australia to Geelong.
Speaking about the launch, Anastassiou said: “I’ve always loved iced tea and wanted to create a boozy version that was just as refreshing but with a crafted edge.
“Unlike what’s already available, instead of simply blending tea with spirits, I’ve brewed it on a beer base. This was an intentional move to give the product a silky, full-bodied mouthfeel that feels much closer to real iced tea – crisp and refreshing.
“Haiver has never been about doing things the conventional way.
“We wanted to create something that feels new but also instantly familiar. Like the iced tea you know and love – just slightly carbonated and a little boozier.”
Anastassiou describes the Summer Peach Hard Tea as being, “bright, juicy and sun-ripened with hints of nectarine and citrus blossom. The palate bursts with fresh peach juice, balanced by a delicate tartness and a clean, fruity finish”.
For the Tropical he said it was, “bursting with pineapple, mango and passionfruit, layered with creamy coconut and lifted with a zesty lime finish. Vibrant and fruit-forward, it leaves a refreshing, sunny aftertaste”.
Packaged in 330ml cans at 4.5 per cent ABV (one standard drink), Haiver Hard Tea retails at $26 per four-pack, available through the Haiver website and select retailers.
