Stephen and Prue Henschke were honoured last week with induction into the Family Business Australia (SA) Hall of Fame.
“Henschke is one of the longest-established family wine names in the Barossa and one of the most recognised winemakers in Australia,” said Kent Aughey, Chairman of the South Australian Chapter of Family Business Australia.
“Each generation has built on the reputation for quality and the current incumbents Stephen and Prue Henschke are dedicated to ecologically sustainable practices and to restoring the international perception of Australian wine as one of quality, diversity and integrity.”
The Henschkes, a fifth generation winemaker and viticulturist respectively, are acknowledged around the world for their exceptional teamwork and vision.
The first member of the family, Johann Christian Henschke came to South Australia 170 years ago.
In 2008 the Henschkes became joint founders of Australia’s First Families of Wine, an exciting initiative developed by twelve multi-generational families to showcase Australia and its wines.
Succession for the Henschke family is well in hand with the sixth generation all working hard to complete degrees.
