The Tranche Scholarship, recently launched by Michael Hill-Smith AM and his family, aims to support emerging talent in the Australian wine and hospitality industry.
The annual scholarship will help recipients to build their careers through international and domestic travel opportunities.
The Hill-Smith family will lead the program, with Michael Hill-Smith as the Chairman and his daughter Mathilda Hill-Smith as Director.
“We are thrilled to launch the Tranche Scholarship. We are looking for bright, enthusiastic and talented applicants with a clear vision for their future. Age is not a barrier, although it is intended for those in the earlier stages of their career,” said Mathilda Hill-Smith.
As the scholarship has a national scope, advisors have been selected to represent each state. The national and Victorian advisor is Leanne Altmann, wine judge and beverage director at Trader House. The Western Australia state is Erin Larkin, wine judge and reviewer at Robert Parker Wine Advocate, and Fink’s wine director Amanda Yallop is the state advisor for NSW. Queensland will be represented by Penny Grant, wine judge and market manager at Shaw + Smith. Wine writer, wine judge, and proprietor at Silver Sands Beach Club, Nick Stock, is the advisor for South Australia, and Pip Anderson, Hospitality Operations Manager at MONA, is the Tasmanian state advisor.
Applications can be submitted through the Tranche website from 1 July, and will close on 28 July.
