The Hugos Group continues to expand with the opening of a new private dining area in Hugos Bar Pizza, Kings Cross.

Looking out over Bayswater Road, the new Private Dining Room has been designed to reflect the typical Hugos style, utilising dark timber wall-panelling, leather banquettes and brass table bases. Seating 40, the area also includes audio-visual and DJ facilities.

The food will see chef and owner Pete Evans and executive chef Massimo Mele embark on a new direction, with a contemporary take on classic Italian ‘street food’.

“Italy is made up of many regions with very distinct characteristics. Every town, every village, has its proudest specialty,” said Mele.

“These cooking traditions define people's identities just as much as their dialects and traditional costumes. We want to bring some of these amazing dishes to Sydney for our customers to enjoy the way the Italians do.”

Since its launch 2004, Hugos Bar Pizza has won multiple awards for its food, including Best Pizza Restaurant in NSW at the Restaurant & Catering Awards from 2006 – 2010; as well awards as for its bar, including Best Bar at the 2007 Australian Liquor Industry Awards (ALIA).

They were also a finalist for Best Bar Team at this year’s ALIAs.
