Hugos bar has proven they can do more than just make good cocktails after taking out the NSW Jagermeister ‘Master the Hunt’ cocktail competition on Monday night (Apr 19).
Open to members of the bartending fraternity Club Suntory, the competition called for bartenders to not only create a Jägermeister cocktail, but also to demonstrate their skills on the popular arcade game Buck Hunter.
Scores of bartenders gathered at the Annandale Hotel to watch ten teams of two compete for the title. After mixing their drink for the judges, competitors then had to play a round of Buck Hunter, being careful to only shoot bucks and not the innocent does.
Hugos Nathan ‘AJ’ Allen-Jones and Ian Young took out first place for their ‘Mike Hunt’s Big Buck Hunt’ cocktail, which used a Jägermeister sorbet. Tom Berthet and Eddie Halliday from Cargo came second, while Aidan Reynolds and Dean Storey from the CYCA, Rushcutters Bay came third.
“Jägermeister is such a great brand and I wanted to show it can be mixed with more than just Red Bull, which is also the reason for the sorbet,” said Allen-Jones.
“As for winning, it always feels great, but after all the pre-comp bickering, it feels great to have beaten Natalie Ng from Café Pacifico.”
