After an initial release in the on-premise channel, Jameson Select Reserve is now available in off-premise outlets.
Jameson Select Reserve is matured in a mix of sherry casks and American oak barrels previously used for bourbon, which have been charred in Kentucky to the exact specifications of master cooper Ger Buckley.
The freshly emptied bourbon barrels are selected and graded, before being prepared for further charring, while the grain whiskey is a special small batch grain whiskey that Jameson’s master of whiskey science Dave Quinn distils only once per year.
Master blender Billy Leighton handpicks each cask, not based on age but the flavours the cask contributes, while master distiller Brian Nation oversees the whole process to ensure the blend delivers the classic Jameson smooth taste, but with enhanced flavours, including more intense concentrated spice, nutty notes, vanilla sweetness and sherry fruit.
“The result is an enhanced finish, reflecting all the components of Jameson Original, smooth and mellow with an intense and rich finish,” says Leighton.
Jameson Select Reserve is available now with an RRP of $70.99
