At the 2023 Royal Adelaide Wine and Spirits Show Trophy Winners Lunch held on Friday 6 October, Jane Ferrari won the prestigious 2023 South Australian Legend of the Vine Award.
Presented by the Wine Communicators of Australia, the award recognised Ferrari’s outstanding contribution to the wine industry in front of many of her associates and colleagues. Having previously won the WCA Wine Communicator of the Year in 2012, and been inducted as a Baron of the Barossa in 2013, Ferrari’s career spans many years.
After spending 25 years at Yalumba Wines in winemaking and communication, and further time at Wolf Blass Wines and Rockford Wines, Ferrari was praised for her ability and passion for communicating and storytelling about wine.
Angus Barnes, National WCA Executive Chairman, commented on the achievement.
“Jane has inspired many people about wine both in Australia and around the world and does this with her down to earth brand of wit, humour, and sensitivity.
“I feel confident that this year’s winner of the Legend of the Vine will be well supported right across the industry.”
The Legend of the Vine Award is issued annually across NSW, Victoria and South Australia, with Ferrari being the ninth person in South Australia to receive the award. Ferrari joins a prestigious national list that includes Peter Haes, Brian Crosser AO, Pam Dunsford, Tony Love, Brian Walsh, d’Arry Osborne, Bill Hardy and Patrick Iland.
