Tasmanian sparkling producer, Jansz, has launched a new super-premium wine within its vintage portfolio.
The Jansz Tasmania Single Vineyard Chardonnay 2007 is made with 100 per cent Chardonnay sourced exclusively from the Jansz Tasmania estate in Pipers River, and only 1479 bottles have been produced, all of which have been individually numbered.
“Chardonnay is the backbone, the star and history of Jansz Tasmania,” said Jansz winemaker, Natalie Fryar.
“It had long been a dream to create a definitive wine for our Jansz vintage collection, a 100 per cent Chardonnay that highlights our love for this variety and its importance to Jansz Tasmania. The opportunity came in 2007 with a brilliant vintage and exceptional Chardonnay fruit.”
The estate vineyard at Jansz is comprised of 20 individual blocks of fruit with the best four of these providing Chardonnay fruit for the Vintage Cuvée, Vintage Late Disgorged Cuvée, and now the Vintage Chardonnay.
“Every vintage brings a new dimension and expression to this fruit, my interpretation of that single vintage from those great Chardonnay blocks is the creation of this wine,” says Fryar.
“Chardonnay offers the sparkling winemaker elegance, power and most importantly longevity. Its very nature allows me to create a wine of structure and great power that will live for years.”
The Jansz Tasmania Single Vineyard Chardonnay 2007 will be available from the Jansz Tasmania Wine Room in Pipers River and selected wine retailers nationwide, with an RRP of $60.99.
