Jim Beam Racing (JBR) is celebrating its first win of the 2009 V8 Supercars Championship Series after triumphing at the Townsville 400 over the weekend.
James Courtney finished in first place followed by teammate Steve Johnson in fifth place.
The result for new recruit Courtney and longstanding JBR star Johnson follows promising performances in the lead up to the Series and early Series results.
“Our double podium finish after Race 4 at the Hamilton 400 was a huge boost and really helped us build momentum for Townsville,” said Courtney. “With us both on the podium we were more motivated than ever to reach the top spot.”
Beam Global Australia sponsorship and events manager Kel Constantine said the win is indicative of the spirit of Jim Beam Racing.
“Jim Beam is enormously proud of the team,” he said. “Steve and James are star drivers and fantastic ambassadors for Jim Beam.”
“We are thrilled with their fantastic results at Townsville, and are confident their success will continue for the rest of the 2009 V8 Supercars Championship Series.”
JBR is now preparing for the 360 Sandown Challenge on July 31 to August 2.
