Johnnie Walker has released its six-minute film ‘The Man Who Walked Around The World’ in Australian cinemas.
Starring BAFTA-award winning Scottish actor, Robert Carlyle, ‘The Man Who Walked Around The World’ tells the story of Johnnie Walker and his descendants, beginning with young John Walker’s grocery shop in Kilmarnock, Scotland, and tracking the brand’s rise to prominence over a 200-year period.
Diageo Australia has invested $450,000 to promote the film to Australian audiences, following international recognition at film festivals including Cannes and receiving over half a million hits on You Tube.
“The Man who Walked Around the World tells the story of Johnnie Walker’s personal progress, right back to where it all began over 200 years ago,” said Diageo Australia’s marketing director, John Green.
“We are extremely proud to be able to present the film to over 700,000 cinema audiences around Australia, and we hope it will give consumers a new appreciation of the world’s most loved Scotch whisky brand, as well as educating them on Johnnie Walker’s long and deep rooted history.”
The short film was shot on location in the hills of Scotland’s Loch Doyne and includes the longest tracking shot ever used in advertising history.
