Japanese favourite Kirin Hyoketsu is now available in Australia, with the highest-selling Lemon flavour being the first to hit the market.
Kirin Hyoketsu launched in Japan in 2001 and has been a success, increasing the popularity of RTDs in the Japanese market. Both due to the popularity of RTDs on the Australian market and Australia’s appreciation for Japanese cuisine and culture, Australia will be the first country outside Japan to receive the vodka-based RTD.
Penni Terrey, RTD brand director at Lion, is excited about the release.
“With such strong growth in RTDs in the Australian market we see a real opportunity to innovate in this space. This collaboration between Lion and Kirin is a great example of bringing in new innovations to meet a proven and growing consumer trend. We are extremely excited to be the first market outside of Japan to launch Hyoketsu and have high ambitions for the brand,” said Terrey.
The RTD, made with vodka, soda, and frozen lemon juice, has a 6 per cent alcohol content and contains 0.3g of sugar, and only 116 calories. The lemon juice is captured using the Hyoten Toketsu method, wherein lemon juice is frozen to maintain the sweetness and sourness of fresh juice.
Kirin Hyoketsu Lemon will be available in store from today, Monday 21 August.
