There are only two days left for bartenders to get their entries in for the 2010 42 Below Cocktail World Cup, with entries closing tomorrow (Nov 3).
72 applicants will be selected to compete in three state finals, to be held in Brisbane (Nov 16), Sydney (Nov 30) and Melbourne (Dec 14), where they will compete for the chance to represent Australia in the world final in March, 2010.
Now the sixth of its kind, the 42 Below Cocktail World Cup offers bartenders the chance to compete as a nation against other teams from around the world. A UK team won the Cup last year, while Australia has won twice, in 2004 and 2005.
The five-day final see teams from around the world competing over five days in a series of extreme challenges, which in the past have included hanging from helicopters and bungee jumping, while creating clever and original cocktails using 42 Below vodka.
This year, the Australian heats will follow the format of the 42 Below ‘Ready Steady Shake’, whereby contestants are presented with a mystery box and challenged to create a unique cocktail using only its contents.
To enter, participants are required to register their details, along with an original 42 Below cocktail recipe at the 42 Below Cocktail World Cup website.
