The office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing has released the latest list of top-performing gaming venues in New South Wales, ushering in a new Top 10 player.
Redcape Hotel Group has maintained its man of steel grip on positions one and two, with the tango between the El Cortez and Eastwood Hotels continuing.
But new to the inner sanctum, and coming from outside the golden mile of gaming in Sydney’s west, the Chinatown Irish-themed Scruffy Murphy’s has jumped 20 places to number four.
Ferrier Hodgson hospitality specialist Patrick Maher reports this is “a career high” for Scruffy’s, which sits just inside the boundary of the recently initiated lock-out zone in Sydney’s CBD.
Maher says it is too soon to determine whether the introduction of the 1:30am lock-outs have had an effect on trade.
“With only one month of CBD trading restrictions measured in this period it is still too early to form any conclusions regards venue performance in the precinct,” says Maher.
Speaking to TheShout, director of pub broker Manenti Quinlan (MQ) Gerry Quinlan says gaming revenue has remained consistent.
“Gaming Entitlements remain an excellent investment at the current sale price of $235,000 for a block of two,” says Quinlan.
The OLGR releases figures on gaming performance every three months.
