Australian logistics giant, Linfox, has taken full ownership of BevChain, after buying Lion’s 50 per cent share in the company.
Linfox said the strategic acquisition means that Linfox will now have a direct route to Australia’s multi-billion dollar beverage industry and it will be in a better position to meet the needs of the alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage sectors.
Linfox CEO Annette Carey said: “BevChain began in 2006 to provide a specialised service to the alcoholic beverage industry. We plan to grow the business further by expanding into new sectors within the broader beverage industry. The acquisition is aligned to Linfox’s growth strategy and we will continue to invest in sectors where we see an opportunity for growth.”
In the 2017 financial year, BevChain generated $250m in revenue and Linfox confirmed that BevChain will continue to operate as a separate entity to enable the business to focus on the specialised beverage market.
In addition Linfox and Lion will continue their partnership, with BevChain providing ongoing warehousing and distribution services for Lion’s Australian beer business.
