International award-winning bartender Matt Whiley is hosting a series of four masterclasses in Brisbane throughout September, at W Brisbane’s Living Room Bar.

The sessions will offer attendees the opportunity to learn from one of Australia’s best and most creative bartenders. Matt is known for his sustainable practises to help reduce waste and using raw ingredients like pineapple rind or eggshells to create intricate and complex cocktails.

The masterclass will be a chance to experience Whiley’s boundary-pushing ethos on seasonal, sustainable, and innovative practices in food waste – including his tips on how to repurpose ingredients and implement these at home.

Attendees will also hear about Whiley’s journey as a leading figure in the bar world, having founded or co-founded nine multi-award winning bars including London’s Scout and Sydney’s RE (Australia’s first zero-waste bar).

The tickets include canapes and four drinks from Matt Whiley’s new ‘Conscious Cocktails’ menu at Living Room Bar – which turn otherwise discarded ingredients such as potato skins, pineapple rind, pumpkin seeds, cauliflower cream and carrot peel into eco-conscious drinks.

Each cocktail is meticulously crafted using ingredients fused with innovative fermenting techniques, breathing new life and purpose into unexpected ingredients.

The masterclasses take place on:

Wednesday, 11 September: Seating one from 5:30PM – 7PM. Seating two from 7:30PM – 9PM.

Thursday, 12 September: Seating one from 5:30PM – 7PM. Seating two from 7:30PM – 9PM.
