McWilliams is set to extend its Weight Watchers-endorsed wine range to the UK market with four new SKUs.

Originally launched in Australia in 2010 under the McWilliam's Balance label, the new Weight Watchers range for the UK will be called McWilliam's Harmony and includes a Sparkling Brut at six per cent ABV, a Semillon Sauvignon Blanc at eight per cent ABV and a Shiraz at nine per cent ABV.

McWilliam's has also received Weight Watchers endorsement for its Essenze Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, which has an ABV of 10 per cent.

All of the wines feature peel-off Weight Watchers stickers declaring the ProPoints value of a single serve, and the wine's full nutritional information, including calorie content, is displayed on the back label.

McWilliam's export director, Lloyd Stephens, said there is growing demand for low-calorie and low-alcohol wines in the UK, with the category now reaching over one million cases per year.

"The research we commissioned shows that consumers have a strong interest in, and demand for, lower alcohol wines but do not want to compromise when it comes to their taste experience," Stephens said.

"The Weight Watchers endorsement of our wines means consumers can now purchase full-flavoured, lower alcohol wines from a known and trusted quality producer with the clarity and assurance that the Weight Watchers brand and programme provides."
