Melbourne bar puts cocktails on tap

Melbourne's Asian Beer Cafe has opened a 12 cocktail tap station, which allows it to pour cocktails "just as fast as a beer from the tap".

Owned by the Retail Savvy Group, which also owns Father's Office and The Shaw Davey Slum, the Asian Beer Cafe claims having the 12 different cocktails on tap is a first of a kind in Australia.

Anna Carosa, managing director of the Retail Savvy Group, said: "We had Andale construct a special 12 cocktail tap station and now we’re able to pour cocktails just as fast as a beer from the tap, meaning much faster service, coupled with our already incredibly low priced cocktails.

"Chris Leftley, of Pernod Ricard, has been working tremendously close with us in establishing this cocktail tap experience and all cocktails will be batched with the range of Pernod Ricard back bar."

Sam Hatherley, the group’s head cocktail bartender, added: "We have been practicing and perfecting the art of tapped cocktails at Father’s Office now for two years behind the scenes through the mixology of cocktail making and believe we have come as close as ever to doing just that now at our sister bar, Asian Beer Café."
