Millon Wines has released its most premium wine to date, The Masterpiece, a 2020 Shiraz utilising hand-picked single vineyard fruit parcels from the Eden Valley.
Only a small batch of The Masterpiece will be released for each vintage, and it is currently only available in a gift box, which includes the wine, a premium wood corkscrew, and stemless Millon-branded wine glasses. The Masterpiece retails for $220.
The tasting notes describe the wine as having “pronounced aromas of red cherry, plums and white pepper, with a palate of layered black fruits and spice”.
The price reflects the premium techniques used during vinification, as Millon Wines head winemaker Angus Wardlaw told The Shout.
“Our ultra-premium wine, The Masterpiece, showcases the quality and uniqueness of our single vineyard Shiraz from the Eden Valley estate,” he said.
“We handpick only the best parcels of fruit from our vineyard for this wine. The meticulous winemaking process, including hand plunging during fermentation and aging in a rare, ultra-fine limited edition French oak barrique for 18 months, contributes to its distinct quality and justifies its premium status and price compared to other wines from our range.”
