The latest addition to the innovative Mumm Terroirs collection has landed in Australia, with the release of Mumm Napa Prestige Cuvée, hailing from the celebrated West Coast American wine region.

The new wine is made by Head Winemaker Tami Lotz (pictured above) and is a blend of 49 per cent Pinot Noir, 46 per cent Chardonnay, and small amounts of Pinot Gris and Pinot Meunier.

The Mumm Terroirs collection features wines from Marlborough, Central Otago, and also the Mumm Tasmania Brut Prestige, which recently won Best Australian and International Sparkling Wine at the Australian Liquor Industry Awards.

Marketing Director, Pernod Ricard Australia, Kristy Rutherford, said: “We’ve seen the remarkable growth of super premium sparklings from the new world in the last few years.

“Mumm Marlborough Brut Prestige reached shelves in 2020, followed by the popular launch of Mumm Tasmania in 2022, and more recently the expansion into Central Otago with the Mumm Central Otago Blanc de Noirs and Mumm Central Otago Pinot Noir.”

The Mumm Napa Prestige Cuvée is crafted from grapes picked early in the morning, which are pressed gently with the juice undergoing cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The base wines are then blended before secondary fermentation in the bottle and an average of 24 months on lees.

Tasting notes describe “aromas of red apple, cherry, orange and freshly-baked bread with red fruits like plum and cherry, plus toasted bread on the very long palate”.

Rutherford added: “The US have been in love with Mumm Napa sparklings for 40 years now, and we are thrilled to welcome Mumm Napa Prestige Cuvée to the Terroirs collection in time for the Australian summer season.”

Mumm says its Terroirs collection “is the accomplishment of passionate winemakers including Australia’s Trina Smith, Jamie Marfell from New Zealand, and the USA’s Lotz, sharing their winemaking and local knowledge to create modern fine and sparkling wines highlighting the Pinot Noir variety”.

The Mumm Napa Prestige Cuvée is available now for independent liquor stores with a $45 RRP.
