Aldi and BrewDog have announced the opening of a pop-up pub that will sell their new collaborative release ALD IPA for just $3.25 a can to mark the start of the festive season.

Special Brews by Aldi will launch on Wednesday 13 December for one night only, set to be Sydney’s most affordable night out where three drinks cost just $9.75. Setting up shop at Hotel Sweeney’s on Clarence Street, the pub will give Sydneysiders the chance to have an exclusive taste of the limited release, complete with gourmet chips and exclusive merch.

Paul Handley, Aldi Beer Expert and Buying Director, explained that Special Brews by Aldi and the exclusive new ALD IPA collaboration is a first for Aldi Australia.

“[We are] expanding our award-winning range of beers and showing Aussies that they can enjoy a craft experience without the hefty prices. We are so excited to welcome patrons to this new experience and for Aussies to crack open the new ALD IPA.

“Rest assured, if you have left your Christmas celebration plans to the last minute, Special Brews by ALD IPA is here to save the day – maybe even the entire silly season. Aussies know Aldi for delivering the best value on everyday groceries, but we’re taking it a step further by delivering a night out in Sydney for under a tenner this holiday season.

“We want to help Aussies come together and celebrate big – so don’t be a Scrooge, shout your mates or colleagues a round of ALD IPA this Christmas and still have enough left in the wallet for the taxi home after.”

Brewed in partnership with BrewDog, ALD IPA is packed with four different hops, providing a freshy, fruity ale with tasting notes of citrus, stone fruits and a hint of toast at a sessionable four per cent ABV.

Ed Bott, BrewDog Australia CEO, spoke proudly about the collaboration.

“Produced in our state-of-the-art brewery in sunny Brisbane, our new ALD IPA is packed with all the hops and flavours you dream of in a quintessential summertime beer.

“It may boast a price tag fitting for Aldi, but it is the same high quality that BrewDog fans are so used to enjoying across our entire range, so we hope that Aussies enjoy picking up a case of ALD IPA in their weekly shop and cracking open a cold one this summer. And as for Special Brews by Aldi, what more is there to say, except see you at the pub.”

From Wednesday 20 December, the limited-edition ALD IPA will be available at select Aldi stores around the country at $13 for a four pack until sold out.
