Endeavour Drinks Group (EDG) has confirmed it intends to expand the roll-out of a recently trialled delivery service with drinks delivered within an hour from selected BWS stores.

The BWS delivery service commenced its trial in Sydney earlier this month during the Father’s Day period and is now active through 48 metropolitan stores.

Customer delivery is free when the total spend exceeds $100 and there is a flat fee of $10 for orders under $100 with a minimum spend of $20 to qualify for the service.

According to a statement released by the company, the BWS delivery service allows residents to order their drinks online with arrival confirmed within the hour using ‘dynamic real-time updates’. BWS claims that this is the first time a major liquor retailer is delivering to consumers in the evenings and also on weekends.

Endeavour Drinks Group head of risk and reputation, Andrew Wilsmore, told TheShout that initial trials during the Father’s Day period have been successful and proven that there is sufficient evidence to support a national expansion of the program.

“Our intention is to roll-out the initiative to other capital cities over the next few months. Timing for the roll-out will be linked to the success of the trial in Sydney and the scalability of this across our national network.

“It’s all about customer expectations. When you look at businesses like Jimmy Brings and Domino’s – the expectations of consumers in terms of retail convenience have changed – and they are not limited to any product category. Customer opinions are now set by whoever is the most advanced to provide that unique service offer to the market.

BWS General Manager, Guy Brent said he is committed to use the new delivery platform to complement the existing customer service in store.

“It’s a powerful combination and one we’re proud to be providing to customers. We know our customers are looking for more convenient shopping experiences and the BWS delivery service is the next evolution in our vision to be the local bottle shop of Australians,” he said.
