The upcoming Liquor Retail Summit in May has a jam-packed schedule, with a range of speakers and panels. This article written by Retail Drinks reveals a bit of what attendees can expect.

We are now just under three weeks away from the 2021 Liquor Retail Summit, which for the first time in the event’s history will be held in an exclusively digital format. The theme chosen for this year’s Summit is ‘Building Resilience Through Adversity’ which will undoubtedly resonate with all attendees, given everything that has taken place over the past 18 months. For many Summit attendees, the last 18 months will have no doubt been one of the most stressful and exhausting periods of their personal and professional lives.

One such person who personally felt the impact of COVID-19 is our first keynote speaker for the Summit, Steven Bradbury OAM. Known to most Australians as our first ever Winter Olympics gold medallist, Steven lost almost all of his income as a professional speaker overnight when COVID-19 first hit and lockdowns begun in March last year. It was during this time however that Steven, and his two childhood friends Damian and Stephen Prosser, realised their childhood ambition to start a brewery together, which is appropriately named LMS (short for Last Man Standing) Brewing company.

We are delighted to have Steven onboard as one of our keynote speakers, alongside a host of other well known industry experts who will feature throughout the Summit. As part of his keynote address, Steven will provide Summit attendees with his own personal insights into how he has overcome adversity throughout his life. Steven’s success in building resilience, as many Australians will recall, ultimately led to his triumph at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, after experiencing a host of injuries and setbacks throughout his career.

Whilst Steven’s keynote address will be squarely focussed on building resilience through adversity, this theme will also be featured throughout the remaining sessions of the day. Attendees to the Summit will hear from a number of different speakers on how they each built resilience in the face of  significant adversity. Retail Drinks is delighted to once again be able to showcase the industry as part of the Summit and the various businesses and people who have demonstrated tremendous resilience in the face of the challenges brought about by COVID-19.

With the Summit date of Wednesday 19 May rapidly approaching, we encourage everyone to register their attendance on the Summit website. Registration for the event is completely free for all Retail Drinks members and we have assembled a stellar line-up for the event.
