Retail Drinks Australia has now opened nominations for its 2022 Industry Awards, a national program that recognises excellence across Australia’s retail liquor industry.

The awards celebrate the year-round efforts of people and companies that succeed in liquor retail businesses through superior customer service, product knowledge and professionalism. CEO Michael Waters has encouraged all Retail Drinks members to make a nomination, after the awards saw record nominations in 2021.

“Without a doubt, the Industry Awards program is always one of the highlights of the year for Retail Drinks and we know that this year will be no exception. We are extremely excited to be able to recognise the sustained excellence and professionalism demonstrated by a number of individuals and companies across our industry throughout the past year,” Waters said.

“We would encourage all members to put forward a nomination for the awards regardless of how long they have been members or how long they have been in the industry. It is completely free to nominate and all retailer members who do so will be independently ‘mystery shopped’ and receive a complimentary copy of their Mystery Shopper Report valued at $150.”

The 2022 program includes six retailer awards – Liquor Store of the Year, Large Format Liquor Store of the Year, Online Liquor Retailer of the Year, Liquor Store Owner of the Year, Liquor Store Manager and Young Liquor Retailer of the Year. There will also be three supplier awards, including Supplier of the Year, Services Partner of the Year and Sales Representative of the Year.

Waters said: “We were absolutely thrilled to receive a record number of nominations for last year’s Awards and we hope to receive a similarly large number of nominations for this year’s program across each of the various categories.”

Nominations are open until the end of February, and finalists from each of the categories will be announced in late April, with a formal presentation planned for 18 May.
