Artificial intelligence (AI) and technology could be the saviour of bricks and mortar retail stores in future.

That’s according to a recent article on technology website TechRepublic, which quotes Paul Winsor from data science company DataRobot saying that artificial intelligence and machine learning are tools essential for any retailer wishing to succeed.

“To survive in the tough, tough retail market, you have to start to turn your business, and make predictions, based on learning from your historical data,” Winsor explains.

Data, AI and predicting future consumer behaviour will be discussed at this month’s Drinks Innovation Summit, a one-day conference aimed at drinks suppliers, marketers and retailers.

Some of Australia’s smartest technology and business brains will be speaking on the day, including the four panellists below, who’ll be talking Big Data and AI:

  • Michelle Grujin, Managing Director, Retail, Accenture
  • Matt Michalewicz, Managing Director, Complexica
  • Damien Bueno, Managing Director, SAP
  • Rod Pritchard, General Manager, ALM, Metcash Limited
