Publicans across the country will be able to offer their punters what is being hailed as the newest and biggest bet type with the introduction of BIG6.
Offering the chance to win “life-changing dividends”, BIG6 is available every week on thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing, with Tabcorp the only Australian wagering operator to offer the new bet type.
To win, punters need to pick the winners of six races nominated by the TAB.
These six races could be from any race meetings and, by picking all six winners of the BIG6 races, punters win the major dividend.
There is also a supplementary dividend for picking any five out of six winners and BIG6 is available in Flexi betting.
The first BIG6 will be offered this Saturday (Jan 31) and for the first six weeks, it will have a reduced commission rate of 6 per cent, making it particularly attractive to play.
For customers who don’t know much about racing but want to win big, the BIG6 mascot Fred can choose mystery ‘Fred bets’ in $10, $20 or $50 amounts.
‘Fred bets’ provide multiple selections in most legs of the BIG6 and selections are biased towards more favoured runners.
Tabcorp’s managing director of wagering Robert Nason said he was excited to add a new dimension to betting on Australian racing.
“The BIG6 is the ultimate test of punters’ skill,” he said. “The BIG6 will also appeal to non-traditional racing customers because it is simple to play and has the potential for big dividends.”
The first BIG6s will be available this weekend, taking in Group 1 meetings such as Coolmore Lightning Stakes at Flemington and the Ballarat Pacing Cup.
