The New Zealand Winegrowers organisation has announced that it will be hosting the first international Sauvignon Blanc conference next month.
Taking place in Marlborough from 1-3 Febuary the International Sauvignon Blanc Celebration promises to offer the world of wine the opportunity to learn about, discuss and sample some of the leading examples of Sauvignon Blanc from around the world.
Conference organisers said: "This event is the first of its kind in New Zealand and an opportunity for New Zealand wine industry to host the world’s leading wine producers, experts and key influencers and shine the spotlight on this diverse, expressive and sought-after variety."
As well as looking at the science of Sauvignon Blanc the conference programme will see panel discussions about the future of the variety, how region defines its style and the Sauvignon Blanc classics.
There will also be an international Sauvignon Blanc tasting as well as a classics and an ‘alternative’ tasting.
Speakers include Jean-Christophe Bourgeois, Gianfranco Gallo, Alistair Maling MW and Alexandre Schmitt, there will also be more than 60 wineries taking part.
