Oakridge Wines is moving to capitalise on strong consumer demand for rosé and sparkling wine in Australia, unveiling the latest addition to its Ovata by Oakridge range, Ovata by Oakridge Sparkling Rosé NV.
Launching in time for the festive season, the sparkling rosé features a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Yarra Valley, fermented with an average of 24 months spent aging on lees. Tasting notes describe a “sparkling rosé boasting aromas of fresh strawberry, white florals and turkish delight rounded out with notes of strawberries and cream”, and a balanced palate of creaminess and refreshing acidity.
Oakridge Winemaker Victoria Schwarz says: “It is very exciting to be unveiling another addition to our Ovata by Oakridge line-up just in time for summer and the festive holidays.
“There’s so much love for rosé in Australia as it just suits the vibes for summer entertaining. Wine drinkers are also discovering how layered and complex premium rosé in Australia can be. Ovata by Oakridge Sparkling Rosé NV combines all the things we love about sparkling wine and rosé and is set to be a great addition to festive entertaining this year.”
Endeavour Group’s State of the Grapes Report released earlier this year shows rosé continuing to gain market share nationwide from 2023 to 2024, while Wine Australia reports that sparkling wine remains a major category and is expected to grow by an additional 250,000 cases by 2028, driven in part by strong interest among younger legal age drinkers.
Together, these trends point to continued momentum for lighter, fresher wine styles, and strong potential for growth in the sparkling rosé segment.
Ovata by Oakridge Sparkling Rosé NV is the second product in the Ovata by Oakridge portfolio, after the Chardonnay Pinot Noir NV which was released in 2023.
