As the Patrón Perfectionists cocktail competition returns for another year, there is just one week left for Australian bartenders to submit entries and be in with the chance of winning a trip of a lifetime to Hacienda Patrón.
This year’s entry challenge asks bartenders to create their take on a Patrón Paloma, featuring Patrón Reposado, soda water, a creative cordial of their choice and grapefruit in some form, inspired by their favourite global city and honouring Patrón’s commitment to the highest quality ingredients.
To inspire bartenders, Matt Whiley of Re and reigning Australian Patrón Perfectionists champion Alex Boon took on the entry challenge and crafted their own Patrón Paloma. Whiley created a spicy take on the paloma using lacto fermented grapefruit, grapefruit vinegar and a grapefruit cordial to create Six Hours in Shanghai. Inspired by European Memories, Boon crafted Afternoon In Florence with a bitter aperitif style grapefruit cordial.
Shortlisted entries will serve their cocktails in their own venue for Patrón Brand Ambassador Alex Godfrey, with the ten best entries going on to the National Final. The Australian winner will have their name carved into Patrón’s champions trophy, receive $5,000 and a trip to Hacienda Patrón in March 2024 for an experience-filled week with fellow global finalists, global mentors and the Familia Patrón in Atotonilco El Alto, Jalisco, Mexico.
Entries can be submitted via the entry portal, before midnight on Saturday 30 September.
