Adelaide winery Patritti has welcomed Pauline Michael as its newest and first female winemaker.
Founded in 1926 by Giovanni Patritti, Patritti is a family-owned, fully functional winery operating in the suburbs of Adelaide.
Michael comes from Normandy, France, and received a double degree in Viticulture and Oenology from the Montpellier SupAgro. Her first vintage was in the north of Spain, and she made the move to Australia in 2017.
“I love wine because I love people,” Michael said. “You create good memories around a nice bottle of wines shared with your loved ones.”
Michael will be joining James Mungall, Senior Winemaker and third generation Patritti family member, and Ben Heide, Winemaker, who has been with Patritti for almost 20 years.
“You can feel that people are passionate about the products and the family history,” Michael added. “Patritti is known in the industry to have beautiful vineyards. I’m excited to be involved in the making of so many different products, from still wines, to sparkling, fortified and juices.”
Though its vineyards are now located in McLaren Vale and other South Australian region, Patritti remains rooted in the Dover Gardens neighbourhood, near Adelaide’s urban beaches. This year will mark the release of Patritti’s 97th vintage.
