A one million litre capacity lager brewery, Perentie Brewing Co., opened its doors to the public on Saturday 16 December in the South East Queensland city of Logan.
At the helm of Kenton Campbell, Zarraffa’s Coffee Founder, the $6m brewery forms part of the 17,000sqm lifestyle and entertainment hub at Distillery Road Market (DRM) and holds over 30,000 litres of beer onsite.
The 921sqm facility sits between Brisbane and the Gold Coast with a fully accessible beer garden overlooking the Albert River and the historic Beenleigh Rum Distillery.
All of Perentie’s beer is brewed on-site, with a total of 68 taps of beer on offer, 40 of which are dedicated to Perentie’s own beer. Perentie specialises in authentic lagers with three signature beer products, the mid-strength lager Summer Dry, clean crisp lager Pure Crisp, and dark lager Komodo Black. Also offering beers by the can, the brewery manages its own canning and kegging onsite.
Foodwise, the beer will be complemented by a sesaonal menu served from Perentie Kitchen, with dishes such as cheeseburgers, prawn and bug rolls and onion rings. Outside, the beer garden features an expansion of DRM’s popular onsite outlet Sugar Creek Smokehouse, serving up meats direct from a spoke pit.
Campbell, who is also the CEO of Tonken Property Group, the project developer for DRM, commented on the opening of the brewery.
“I’ve always had a clear vision to create a truly localised experience at DRM. Perentie is really the icing on the cake creating authentic moments of relaxation and enjoyment.
“DRM, and now Perentie, is somewhere you can meet family or friends halfway, stop for a refreshing drink and bite to eat, browse the markets and listen to your favourite local musicians. I always wanted it to be a world-class precinct that had something for everyone.
“We’re just so excited to finally serve up our brand of highly sessionable, authentic and quality lager beers – it’s been a long process that has led us to create a space and product that we are truly proud of, and ready to share with everyone.
“We can’t wait to welcome visitors in to see our new space and try our new beers.”
In addition to the opening of Perentie Brewing Co., DRM is also set to open a new indoor-outdoor food and entertainment facility and casual dining precinct, The Food and Entertainment District, with capacity for up to 2,000 patrons for large scale events.
