ABAC is holding its annual industry webinar on Tuesday 13 August 2024 from 11-11:50am AEST, with all alcohol marketers invited to register their attendance, with registrations closing today..

The ABAC Scheme is the centrepiece of alcohol marketing regulation in Australia. It is a not for profit organisation established to promote the marketing of alcohol beverages occurring responsibly and consistently with standards of good practice via regulation, education and advice.

The ABAC Responsible Alcohol Marketing Code (the Code) sets standards for responsible alcohol marketing in Australia and regularly measures its determinations externally to ensure it is in line with community expectations. The Code regulates both the content and placement of alcohol marketing across all advertising mediums.

Registrations are free and are open now, until 5pm, Friday 9 August.

ABAC Chair Hon Tony Smith said: “Joining the webinar and educating yourself on ABAC standards prevents irresponsible communications entering the market, and ensures the industry is meeting community expectations.”

ABAC released a revised Digital Best Practice Guide in December last year. The Guide outlines the application of ABAC Code standards to digital marketing and also explores best practice to assist companies in the responsible implementation and management of their digital marketing. Digital media is complex and rapidly evolving.

Importantly the Guide assists industry to keep pace with these changes and understand all of the options available to them to make socially responsible choices in the management of their digital marketing.
