Wine Australia is calling for the wine community, including wine regions, wineries, restaurants, bars and retailers, to get involved with Aussie Wine Month in May.
Registrations of wine-focused activities and events are now open and will support the month-long promotion of Australian wine, wAustralia.
Now in its fifth year, events will take place in wine regions and city locations around the country as Aussie Wine Month encourages consumers to discover something new about Australian wine throughout May.
Wine Australia’s CEO Andreas Clark said the Aussie Wine Month campaign is an opportunity for wineries and trade to partner with Wine Australia, extend their reach in the domestic consumer market and drive awareness and appreciation of our local wines.
"With 65 wine regions in Australia, our biggest challenge is bringing this richness of styles to peoples' attention. Aussie Wine Month is a great way to put the spotlight on just how varied Australian wine is in both style and variety.
"I encourage the wine community to get creative with their events. We’ve seen everything from winery walks to comedy nights at cellar doors to cooking demonstrations matched with wine to winemaking workshops.
"It’s all about getting drinkers to discover something new about Australian wine, whether it be a region, a grape variety or a new favourite wine."
Participation in Aussie Wine Month is free and events will be promoted on the Aussie Wine Month website.
