Australian branches of the Rum Club are fast becoming a popular past-time, with meetings held in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide last Monday night (Aug 3).
Hobart also hosts regular meetings and there are talks of Brisbane starting up its own club, as well.
Last Monday’s sessions included a Rum Club first, with an exclusive tasting of unfiltered Inner Circle Rum at Golden Monkey, the home of the Melbourne Rum Club.
More than 35 of Melbourne’s top bartenders were treated to a sampling of the rum and asked to provide direct feedback which would be passed on to Inner Circle’s master blenders for consideration.
Host and Inner Circle and Bacardi Lion brand ambassador Damian Kaehler said that Inner Circle’s offering of this unique opportunity is testament to its dedication to the Australian bar scene.
“The fact that Inner Circle identified The Rum Club for this opportunity really reinforces its credibility within the spirits industry, he said. “The feedback about the speciality product was overwhelmingly positive and Inner Circle Rum was able to provide this group of rum lovers with a really unique experience.”
The Sydney Rum Club, held at Eden Bar & Restaurant, was hosted by Southtrade’s Julian Hartley and included tastings of the official rum of the British Navy, Pusser’s, as well as a detailed history of its colourful past.
