Barossa Valley winery Saltram has launched a new range of wines that pays homage to the founding year of Saltram by William Salter.
The 1859 Barossa Shiraz 2012 and Eden Valley Chardonnay 2012 celebrate Salter's pioneering role in the Barossa, according to winemaker Shavaughn Wells, who said both are also authentic examples of the Saltram wine style.
"The Barossa Shiraz comes from well-established vineyards both in the Barossa Valley, but also from cooler sites within the Eden Valley. Coming from the much heralded 2012 vintage, the Shiraz has the expected richness, flavour structure and balance," she said.
"The Eden Valley Chardonnay is also from the excellent 2012 vintage. It has been created in a contemporary style with notes of stone and citrus fruit. The palate is soft and full with a complex creamy texture and subtle oak characters."
The Saltram 1859 range has an RRP of $20.99.
